WEEK 15 UK signs film treaty allowing more British-made movies to be shown in China

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/uk-signs-film-treaty-allowing-more-britishmade-movies-to-be-shown-in-china-8980020.html
The treaty will allow Sino-British co-productions to sidestep China's quota system that limits cinemas from showing foreign films.
I am posting this link to this article because as a film lover I would like to watch foreign films more. I think this is a great thing to happen as I feel that also film lovers in China would love to watch more  foreign films. Also a film that everyone can enjoy can unite countries such a Untouchables that was successful in many countries even though the film was in French . This shows that people are able to love a film and understand it in a different language with only the subtitles. I would love for more  foreign films to appear in our cinemas. What's your opinion ?

Carrie Film Review 2013 Considering Repertoire of Elements

2013 Remake
I went to see Carrie the other night and really enjoyed it. The genre of the film as many will know is horror. The film is a remake on the 1976 film that was based on the chilling Stephen King Novel Carrie. I like the storyline although thought it was fair coincidence that the girl who was being bullied accumulated these powers. I also found it had to believe that she would first start her period at 18 but maybe this was something to do with her powers ? I liked the role of he religious nut mother played by  Julianne Moor. The iconography of the film is very traditional to the sub genre  genre of a slasher.  There is lots of blood and weapons. The themes of sacrifice a shown in this film when the pig is killed to get blood to poor on Carrie. The low key lighting reflects the mood.
The setting of the film are typical of the sub genre teen horror in a school.
I liked the film and found that the sound effects and non diegetic music reflected the terrible morbid mood and feelings Carrie was going through.

Julie Walters to be honoured at film awards

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-25200152
Brit actress Julie Walters is to be honoured at film awards. The 63 year old has appeared in many films such as Harry Potter Mamma Mia.
"I don't like the future sewn up. I like an open book - the feeling that anything can happen."

I'm posting this as I love the role Julie Walters played in one of my favourite films Billy Elliot. She was the teacher who taught billy to dance and who encouraged him to pursue his dreams.

WEEK 14 Producers decide to go ahead with planned release of Paul Walker film in two weeks

http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/news/article-2516695/Producers-decide-ahead-planned-release-Paul-Walker-film-weeks.html
I am posting this link as it was an article that interested me. Since the news that Dark Blood would be released in 2012 for people to watch after nearly 20 years after production the film did not get released in 1993 because actor and main star of the film River Phoenix had died from a drug overdose. I think it was great they released the film but that it should have been released in 1993 and the delay shown uncertainty from the film industry. So to now read that Paul Walker who sadly died recently can be seen in a film coming to cinemas makes me happy that actors live on. Maybe the decision for Walkers film to be released was made sooner that Phoenix's gap of 20 years because he died from a car crash.
I think it is in the greatest respect to show Walkers film and am very happy for his fans although may be sad to see him can celebrate his work.
What do you think ?

Which film prop would you most like to own?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/10483684/Which-film-prop-would-you-most-like-to-own.html
Personally I would favour Judy Garland's ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.
I am posting this link as I love movie props. The thought that a film could have such an impact on someone that they would then want to buy items from the film or even replicas is amazing.
